Winter in Protaras, Cyprus

I have just returned from two weeks at a  'health spa '  in Ayia Thekla  which is about 10 minutes from Ayia Napa towards Larnaca

The treatment was superb.  I really enjoyed being pampered,  the food was great and being able to have a swim and then into the jacuzzi was great.

As it was early November the weather (after a few thunderstorms) was lovely. Some days it was too hot for me to sit in the sun so had to move into the shade.

I caught the local bus to Protaras, although as I said, it was quite hot, it was like a ghost town all the shops cafes and bars seem to have closed down for the winter as did most of the hotels.

As the new airport has just opened in Larnaca lets hope that there are more flights from the UK into Larnaca during  'winter' so perhaps every where can enjoy a longer holiday season.

It is a pity that the Cyprus Government cannot find ways to attract tourists to the east coast of Cyprus in winter. The weather is still very pleasent if only there were more for people to do, such as a golf course in the area!
The new Larnaca airport is open so lets hope more carriers will use it during the winter. The Hotels, restaurants and shops would stay open if there were people around.
