Description:
Vouni is situated in the Krasochoria area of the Limassol district, 800 metres above sea level in Cyprus.
The village gets its name from its location, Vouni means 'low mountain' where it is built.
Up until the 1990's Vouni was renowned for its vinery and agriculture of cereals, olives and carobs. Due to rural depopulation, this agriculture has been greatly reduced. Interestingly the population of Vouni has also decreased - in 1946 the population was 1247 compared to just 136 in the last consensus taken in 2001.
Vouni is a picturesque village which has shops, winery, tavernas, library, museums and churches.
