Description:
Fig Tree Bay is one of the best known and popular beaches in Cyprus. It is one of the main reasons that Protaras has developed into a thriving tourist resort.
It takes its name from a fig tree which, according to local legend, was brought by invaders in the 17th century.
The beach has a long stretch of golden white sand with clean and shallow water, making it safe for young and old alike.
A few hundred meters from the beach is a small island where many swimmers visit to explore, care must be taken as the island is made up of very sharp rock.
Fig Tree Bay has been awarded the prestigious European Blue Flag status and therefore a lifeguard is on duty during the summer months and shower, changing room and toilet facilities are also provided.
Sun beds and umbrellas can be hired. There are also water sports available to cater for every need, including boat trips.
Relaxation and refreshments can be obtained in one of the numerous bars, restaurants or tavernas along the beach front.
There is plenty of parking nearby and disabled access.
