The Nicosia Municipality established a series of walks in 1987 aimed at visitors to Cyprus interested in acquanting themselves with the present day and historical Nicosia.

 
'A Walk in Nicosia' is organised by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.
 
The walk aims to provide an opportunity of seeing Nicosia within the walls and all its development from medieval times until the present day.

 
The architecture of the buildings, monuments and churches in the old city provide that insight.
 

The tour visits workshops and stores such as candle makers, shoemakers, blacksmiths, coppersmiths, chair makers, and tailors, where craftsmen still work in the traditional way.
 
The walks are offered by the Nicosia Municipality free of charge with the escort of qualified tourist guides.
