Nicosia Organised Walk 'Outside The Walls' - Cyprus

Description:

The Nicosia Municipality established a series of walks in 1987 aimed at visitors to Cyprus interested in acquanting themselves with the present day and historical Nicosia.
 
'Outside These Walls' is a tour of Nicosia organised by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.
  
An old, wooden bus is used during the walk.
 
The tour aims to show the development from the end of the 19^th century to the present day.
 

Emphasis is given to the first Bronze Age settlements along the Pediaios River in the Prehistoric era. Also, the excavations from ancient times until today can be experienced.
 

The bus tour goes out of the Pafos Gate and then the walk begins along the Pediaios River.
 

The bus then journeys through the government buildings and up to the excavations on St.George's hill. Following this, it goes on to the Presidential Palace and the English School.
 

There is a brief walk in the Agioi Omologites neighbourhood and afterwards, the bus returns to the centre of Nicosia.
 

The walks are offered by the Nicosia Municipality free of charge with the escort of qualified tourist guides.
