Located in Kyprianou Square in the centre of Nicosia, the the Archbishop's Palace is one of the most popular places to visit in Nicosia.
It was built during the struggle for independence by Archbishop Makarios 111 and completed in 1961, a year after Cyprus gained independence from Britain.
The palace houses the Archbishopric, offices and the archdiocese and the Byzantine Museum.
Outside the Palace is a bronze statue of Makarios 111 which was erected in 1987 by Archbishop Chrysostomos.
Next to it is the Old Archbishops Palace which was built in the 18th century and is now home to the Folk Art Museum and National Struggle Museum.
