Aphrodite's Rock - Cyprus

Description:

The Rock of Aphrodite or Petra Tou Romiou as it is known in Greek is located just off the old Paphos-Limassol road, 30 minutes from Limassol.
 

It is believed to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Goddess of love and beauty, where she mythically arose from the sea.

 
Aphrodite had many followers in Paphos, which is evident from the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Old Paphos.

 
Visitors can park in a tourist pavilion which has a souvenir shop and see the rock from above with its breathtaking views. Some people do swim out to the rock or around it but the sea can be very rough at times.
