Description:
Larnaca Fort dates back to 1625 and was built by the Turks to defend the city. It is located at the far end of the promenade right on the sea front. There are good views from the top of the walls.
It was used more often as a prison, especially during the first years of British rule.
It now houses a small archaeological museum, with finds from Kition and the Hala Sultan Tekke excavations.
The fort is also used as the Larnaca Municipal Cultural Centre.
