Description:
Deryneia is situated in the South of Cyprus between Paralimni and Famagusta in the Northern Occupied territory. Deryneia, also spelt Dherynia/Derinia, is a traditional village which is home to three Byzantine churches, one of which dates back to around the 12th Century.
It also has many historical and religious monuments that are worth visiting together with the newly-built Cultural Centre, where you can borrow binoculars to view the Occupied area of Famagusta. There are many exhibitions and events that run at the Cultural Centre.
Deryneia is a popular place for visiting tourists, some of whom get married at the Art Museum. Deryneia is now home to a number of expatriates who have purchased property in Deryneia in order to enjoy the laid back lifestyle a traditional Cypriot village has to offer.
