Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Paphos - Cyprus

The Sanctuary of Aphrodite is located in Kouklia village in the Paphos district, 14 kilometres east of Paphos just off the Limassol - Paphos road and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
 

Paliapaphos, meaning Old Paphos was one of the most celebrated pilgrimage centres of the ancient Greek world. It was once a city-kingdom of Cyprus. The sanctuary of Aphrodite stands here and is the most ancient remains dating back to the 12^th Century B.C.
 

There is a museum housed in the Lusignan Manor which has many interesting finds from the area.
