Category: Beaches
Water Sports: Boats, hand gliding
Facilities: Traditional and fish tavernas

Description:

Kourion Beach also known as Curium Beach is located approximately 20 kilometres west of the busy commercial town of Limassol in Cyprus. It can be found near to the village of Episkopi within the Sovereign Based Area.

The 2nd Century Kourion Amphitheatre overlooks the vast, curving beach which also creates the backdrop for the beach with its high cliffs and stunning views.

The beach is sandy with pebbles and the sea is very clear but due to the exposure to the beach, it can get a bit rough at times. It is recommended to check flags and warning signs for the sea state.

Kourion Beach is clean and has basic toilet facilities.

There are refreshments available at the tavernas located on the beach where you might be tempted to sample a lunch time meze and relax watching the waves lapping on the shore.

Water sports such as sailing, hand-gliding and wind surfing are ideal in the area when it gets a bit windy.

Many visitors to the Kourion Archaeological site choose to descend upon the beach to relax and refresh themselves after walking around the ruins.
