Description:
Phinikoudes Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Cyprus located on the coastal promenade of Larnaca town in front of the Larnaca shopping area. The beach is a stretch of approximately 500 metres of fine grey sand and the sea is clean and safe with generally calm waters. Water sports are very popular on the beach due to the calm seas.
The name 'Phinikoudes' comes from the Greek name for small palm trees. The beach is lined with palm trees that were planted in 1922 and have now become very large in contrast to its name.
The main road, Athenon Avenue, runs parallel to the beach and is colourfully lined with palm trees and beautiful flowers. There are cafe's, restaurants, tavernas and bars that line the promenade area facing the beach.
Phinikoudes Beach has Blue Flag accreditation and has all the facilities afforded to a blue flag beach; changing rooms, showers, toilets, disabled access, sun beds and parasols. A qualified lifeguard is on duty during the summer season.
The avenue is the venue for the Kataklysmos (Flood) Festival that normally takes place annually in June.
