Description:
Autumn in Cyprus starts towards the end of October with the first rainfalls and the cooler evenings. The summer dust is washed away and the weary plants that had dried up start to look rejuvenated.
Owners can be seen walking their dogs at more reasonable hours than the summer early morning and late evening walks.
The burnt straw looking grass starts to take on a brighter green colour in the wild fields. Leaves on trees start turning green and even the bark looks fresher.
The beginning of autumn feels like a warm summer's day in the UK. People can still be seen swimming in the pools and the sea.
Many people living in Cyprus enjoy this season the most as it is a refreshing time after the beating heat of the summer months.
The air conditioners and fans can be switched off, the duvets are once again put on to the bed and the cooler evenings see to a more comfortable night's sleep.
Cyprus events that could not take place in the summer heat start up at this time of the year. Horse racing at the Nicosia Race Course in Ayios Dhometios has race meetings on Wednesdays and Sundays from mid September, the Cyprus International 4-Day Challenge and the Aphrodite Half Marathon also take place during autumn.
Average temperatures during autumn are around the early 20's decreasing as the season progresses to winter.
