Taxi Services in Cyprus

Description:

Cyprus has no rail service and a limited bus service across the Island.  Therefore it is essential to have a good and efficient taxi service linking Nicosia, Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol and Paralimni.
 

Taxi services are split into three categories:
 

• Service/intercity taxis
• Urban taxis
• Rural taxis

Service/Intercity Taxis
 

Intercity taxi services provide a connection service between all major towns at a fixed rate.
 

Reservation is necessary and passengers can either board at the service taxi office or other pick-up points. This is a shared service and passengers may be dropped off anywhere in the destination municipal zone. Payment is made to the driver.
 

Timings: Every half hour Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday from 07:00 to 17:00. There is no service on public holidays.

Urban Taxis
 

Urban taxis provide a 24 hour a day service in all cities.
 

It is advisable to book a taxi to ensure availability although taxis can be hired from the street.
 

Rural Taxis
 

Rural taxis provide a service in small towns and villages.
 

Notes:
 

Each taxi driver has a legal obligation to use a taximeter throughout the journey and provide a receipt should the passenger request one.
 

• Tariff I: day tariff, valid from 06:00 to 20:30
• Tariff II: night tariff, valid from 20:30 to 06:00
• Driver waiting time costs extra
• A supplement is payable on certain public holidays
• Luggage weighing more than 12 kg costs extra (only a nominal charge)
• Pets can be carried providing they are in a carrying container. A nominal fee per pet may be charged.
