Category: Resources

Description:

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean. With a total area of 5,895 sq km. You can drive from one side of the island to the other and back in one day. Below are a few points you need to be aware of:

  • Driving is the same as in Great Britain on the left hand side of the road.
  • Hire cars have red number plates and the registration number begins with Z.
  • In all coastal areas and towns there are petrol stations with automatic pumps operating a 24 hour service. Bank notes and international credit cards are accepted.
  • There is a dual-carriageway (motorway) which connects all resorts.
  • Maximum speed limit is 100 kilometres on the motorway.
  • Always check speed limits as mobile speed traps are common place.
  • Daytime shared taxi-service links all the main towns of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos.
  • There is not a railway network in Cyprus.
  • Tour operators in Cyprus organise day trips, excursions and tours to all the main locations. The coaches are modern and air-conditioned with tour guides in English.
