Polis (Polis Chrysochous) is located North West in the district of Paphos approximately 30 minutes drive from Paphos town and 45 minutes drive from Paphos International Airport. The area blends mountains, sea and plain with a healthy climate of mild winters, clear sea and sandy beaches.
Polis is a quiet coastal tourist resort ideally suited for nature lovers and those keen on active holidays, such as walking, cycling, horse riding, hiking, golf, scuba diving and other water sports. The Tsada Golf Course is just 25 minutes away. It is the closest developed area to the magnificent Akamas Peninsula.
The name Polis Chrysochous translates from Greek to 'City of Gold'. In ancient times is was known as Marion, founded by the Mycenaeans when they came to Cyprus.
The history of Polis dates back 3000 years and there are a number of traditional churches in the area that are worth visiting, if only to see their splendid architecture.
Polis is close to where Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty used to meet with her lover Adonis.
The town has a tourist office, a hospital, pharmacies, banks, shops, restaurants, bars and tavernas with a picturesque pedestrian area in the centre of Polis.

The Local Museum of Marion - Arsinoe - It opened its doors to the public in 1998. The museum consists of three exhibition spaces portraying historical development from the Neolithic and Chalcolithic to the Medieval Periods.
Polis Culture Centre - Opened on 15th October 2001, the Polis Culture Centre is a modern day building with a theatre stage and seating area with a 400 seat capacity. It also houses an exhibition area that can host up to 250 people.
