Kalavasos lies 40 kilometres south-west of Larnaca, adjacent to the Nicosia-Limassol highway in Cyprus. The village was built on the west bank of the river Vasilikos which provides the village with secured irregation and watering.
The village has been densely populated since ancient times. The Kalavasos mines are 6 kilometres north-west of the village and provided a good source of employment whilst they were operating.
The area has several archaeological sites of interest. Whilst the Vasilikos river ensures the surrounding area comprises of wild plantation and cultivated area with citrus trees and some vineyards.
Today, Kalavasos is a place where old meets new. The coffee shops in the centre of the village provide a meeting place for locals and tourists. Several tavernas, shops, a bank and other services are in the village. Kalavasos also boasts numerous holiday apartments and property to purchase.

Kalavasos receives an average rainfall of approximately 445 mm ever year.
To Visit:
The 'Tenta' settlement is an archaeological site just outside the village where a number of circular huts with plastered walls were found.
The Church of Panagia Theotokos - built around 1910, is in the centre of the village surrounded by traditional houses.
