Description:
Deftera is a suburb of the Nicosia District of Cyprus, located approximately 15 kilometres from the capital. It is divided into two municipalities, Pano Deftera and Kato Deftera.
It is also the hometown of the Cypriot poet Kougiallis who has written a book titled ' My own Deftera', a poem devoted to his childhood at Deftera.
The area is known for the Panayia Chrysospiliotissa Church built into the cave, the Grammar School Nicosia and Lapasa Equestrian Centre.
To Visit:
The Panayia Chrysospiliotissa Church - dating back to the early Christian Period. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Golden Cave. A religious fair is held near the church on 15th August.
