Description:

Politiko is a village 17 kilometres southwest of the capital city Nicosia, in the area known as Tamassos which also encompasses the villages of Pera and Episkopeio.

Over the past few centuries the village has developed from being a poor agricultural village with only a few families to a village with hundreds of families now resident.

Polotiko still retains many older buildings of past settlements in the centre of the village.

Ayios Herakleidios Monastery - Hereakleidios guided Saints Paul and Barnabas to Tamassos. They later ordained him as Bishop of Tamassos. He was martyred at the age of 60 and buried in the cave where he had lived and preached.
