Description:
Peyia or Pegeia lies 12 kilometres north of Paphos, at the southern end of the Akamas Peninsula. Due to the towns hillside location many parts offer views over Coral Bay and beyond to Paphos.
Recent years have seen a large population of ex-pats mainly from Britain relocating to the town. This has led to a large increase in property development, both for permanent residence and holiday homes.
There are several shops, restaurants, tavernas, bars and banks in the town centre together with a town hall, church and police station.
Peyias football team is called APOP Kinyras Peyias FC and currently plays in the Cypriot First Division.
To Visit:
There are two ruined Christian basilicas on the outskirts of the village and Roman tombs carved into the cliffs above the sea.
