Description:

Akrotiri is situated on the south coast of Cyprus and is one of two Sovereign Based Areas in Cyprus - the other being the ESBA where Dhekelia and Ayios Nikolaos are located.

It is located between Limassol and Paphos in a coastal position on the Akrotiri Peninsula. Together with Episkopi Garrison, it forms an area known as the Western Sovereign Base Area (WSBA).

It is a UK administered area and was retained by the UK following the granting of independence from Britain in 1960. This was because of the strategic location of Cyprus in the Mediterranean Sea.  
 
Akrotiri has many clubs, organisations and facilities including a cinema, gymnasium, water-ski club and theatre to name but a few.

K1 Club - winter training for both Triathlon and Diathlon events. The club is situated at Royal Air Force Station Akrotiri but has members island wide.
