The name Prodromos meaning 'Forerunner' (to Christ) is taken from the title in Greek Orthodoxy of John the Baptist.
The commerce in Prodromos is mainly agriculture including fruit growing, in particular apples. Because of its heavy annual rainfall, a dam was built to help cultivate the land and surrounding villages.
