Description:
Ayia Thekla is located at the Eastern Coastal end of Cyprus, 6 miles from the bustling tourist resort of Ayia Napa. Ayia Thekla has evolved due to the property boom which has occurred since Cyprus joined the EU in 2004.
It is a residential area with villas and bungalows, some of which are used as holiday rental lets. There is a church, a supermarket, bar, restaurant, mini-market and a nice sandy beach with water sports and a beach bar.
Ayia Thekla church, which lies between Ayia Napa and Sotira, is very quaint and because it is situated on the coast, it has fantastic views out to the Mediterranean Sea. The church is built next to the remains of the old original church which is thought to date back to the 4th Century.
There is a cave to the west of the church which is a sculptured tomb. The cave, known as St. Thekla's Cave, was used when the old church was destroyed.
