Description:
Paralimni (meaning lakeside) is located in the South East of Cyprus near to the popular tourist resorts of Protaras and Ayia Napa.
Since Cyprus joined the EU in 2004, Paralimni has seen a large increase in property development to cope with the influx of foreigners particularly from the United Kingdom.
Modern shops, clubs, amusement centres, and offices are located next to the traditional coffee shops and old stores. The central square with its coffee shops has the intense characteristics of a big old village. The adjacent roads, the new squares and the park have the feel of a contemporary town.
Today, Paralimni is a small, progressive town combining the beauty of the traditional Cyprus village and the comforts of a modern town.
Renowned for its folk poets and strong traditions, each summer Paralimni celebrates its cultural heritage with the Paralimni Cultural Summer Festival. Events range from traditional dances to storytelling.
