Description:
Yesterday in the House of Lords in Britain a question was raised by Lord Jones of Cheltenham regarding the title deeds situation in Cyprus.
"What progress has been made on the discussions between the British High Commission in Cyprus and the government of Cyprus, regarding the ability of United Kingdom citizens who have bought property in Cyprus to obtain title deeds, and the assurances made by the government of Cyprus to the British High Commissioner that it would introduce a bill to address that issue?"
The Parliamentary rules of the House of Lords means that Lord Jones should receive a full response to his question by the end of the month.
This will also force the British High Commissioner in Cyprus, Peter Millet to have urgent talks with the Cypriot Interior Minister Neoclis Sylikiotis to clarify the situation.
Back in December 2008 he was assured that a bill was been drafted to tackle the problem yet five months down the line nothing has been resolved.
