Cyprus has seen an increase in temperatures over the last few days and the 'heat wave' is expected to continue up to the weekend.
According to the Cyprus Met Office, temperatures are about 4 degrees higher than normal for this time of the year and they have issued an extreme high temperature warning.
Nicosia has experienced the highest of the temperatures with a sweltering 43C being recorded. Coastal areas such as Ayia Napa and Protaras have felt cooler because of the sea breeze which can often be deceptive.
It is advisable to stay out of the sun between 11am and 4pm when the sun is at its strongest. Children should be covered up even when playing in swimming pools and sun block applied.
