Disabled Facilities on Five Cyprus Beaches in Limassol and Famagusta

13 August 2009

Description:

According to the Paraplegics Organisation, there are five beaches in Cyprus which have wheelchair access.

The five beaches concerned are in the Famagusta and Limassol area. They are Fig Tree Bay and Yianna Marie beach in Protaras, Ayia Thekla beach in Ayia Napa, Aktis Olympion (Olympia) beach and Dasoudi beach in the Limassol district.

The Organisation wished to remind individuals who are physically disabled and use wheelchairs that Cyprus does have specially equipped beaches to allow easier access to the sea.

The five beaches have all been fitted with a special wheelchair ramp and a plastic walkway running down to the sea enabling wheelchair access. The access area can be found next to each of the beach's lifeguard posts.

The CTO (Cyprus Tourism Organisation) purchased the specialist equipment and gave it to specific municipalities in Cyprus free of charge.
