Description:
Investigations are continuing today as British tourists had a narrow escape when a bomb exploded at the busy Pavlo Napa Hotel on Nissi Avenue in Ayia Napa in Cyprus.
The explosion occurred at around 3 am this morning shortly after two people were seen fleeing the scene on a motorbike by a night watchman at a neighbouring hotel.
The bomb was placed near the gas cylinders of the hotel's restaurant but luckily it did not cause the cylinders to explode which could have lead to mass carnage at the hotel. The Pavlo Napa hotel is owned by Ayia Napa Mayor, Antonis Tsokkos.
The reason for the attack is still unclear as police sealed off the area to carry out their investigations. The Pavlo Napa hotel is a popular destination for British holiday makers.
