Highway Closed
Yesterday the Limassol to Paphos highway was closed near Pissouri village for 8 hours after an accident involving a truck laden with building sand lost control and overturned across both lanes.
 
Cyprus Problem

President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat meet today to discuss the thorny issue of property in an attempt to find a mutually acceptable solution that will re unite the country divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
 

Cheaper Loans
Good news for small and medium size enterprises (SME's) as the European Investment Bank and Cyprus's Central Cooperative Bank will sign a loan agreement in early 2010 aiming to offer cheap and long term loans to Cyprus small and medium size enterprises as part of a broader policy to boost liquidity of European SMEs.
 
Vehicle Registrations Down

According to the Cyprus Statistical Service report, motor vehicle registrations in Cyprus fell in the first nine months of this year. The total number of registrations decreased by almost 26%, in comparison to the same period last year.
 

German Craft Docks Today
The Maris S. Merian, a state of the art German ocean research craft, will be docking in Limassol today. The craft will be used to carry out sea microbiology studies in the eastern Mediterranean and will use Limassol Port as its base until May 2010.

An Indian lady working in Cyprus as a domestic employee struck it lucky when a €5 National Lotto scratch card won her €120,000. The lady who left her husband and children in India when she came to work in Cyprus is now able to return to India and rejoin her family.
