Passengers travelling through Paphos International Airport have voted it first among major airports in Europe according to a press release from Hermes Airports.
  
A poll run by Thomson Airways during the 2009 summer season, involving all airports in their network, ranked Paphos International Airport as first among the major airports of Europe.
 

Thomson Airways accounts for more than 25% of all passengers served by Paphos International Airport. Specifically, the airport attracted the highest percentage of positive votes and was chosen as the airport, which leaves the most favourable impression on travellers and at the same time offers exceptional services to the travelling public.
  

“This is the first time that an airport of the Cyprus Republic has occupied such an honoured position and has been awarded “Best Resort Airport in Europe” by the travelling public”, the press release says.
 

Paphos International Airport was completely renovated by Hermes last year with the new terminal opening in November 2008.
