Foreign Citizens Reached 125,000 in Cyprus in 2008

Description:

According to figures released by the EU in Brussels yesterday the number of foreign citizens legally residing in Cyprus reached 125,000 or 15.9% of the total population in 2008.
 

81,000 foreign citizens in Cyprus were from other EU member states with 44,000 from other countries, according to the data released. There was no available data to further break down where the foreign citizens in Cyprus originated from.
 

The Eurostat (statistical Office of the European Communities) data revealed that on the 1st January 2008, 30.8 million foreign citizens lived in the 27 EU member states.

 

Foreign citizens accounted for 6.2% of the total EU population.
