Description:
The head of the Cyprus Motor Vehicles Importers’ Association (SEMO), Petros Krasias announced yesterday that the Motorshow 2010 will go ahead this year despite an almost 40% drop in car sales last year.
The annual event was cancelled last year due to the global financial crisis but will go ahead this year opening its doors at the Cyprus International Fair Grounds in Nicosia on Tuesday 19th January until Sunday 24th January.
The SEMO head said importers planned to exhibit new models and offer special prices at the exhibition in order to boost sales.
He also called on the Government to reintroduce the vehicle scrapping scheme offered in 2008 but with additional modifications to ensure that new vehicles were purchased as replacements.
There will be 35 exhibitors in total, with cars from Europe, Asia and America. 30 types of saloon and commercial vehicles will be on show with stalls offering services and accessories related to the motor trade.
Antique vehicles and motorcycles will also be on display, whilst the Cyprus Police Traffic department will also be present to promote road safety.
Communications Minister Nicos Nicolaides will officially open the show at 18:00 on 19th January 2010.
Daily opening times are: 17:00 to 22:00, Saturday 15:00 to 22:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 22:00
