Limassol Municipality is to undertake the largest cleanup campaign by a local authority in Cyprus under the title ‘Green and Clean’.
 

The Mayor of Limassol Andreas Christos said “The aim of the campaign is to provide additional and more effective public health services in Limassol, to improve public health and the level of hygiene in the town.”
 

The campaign will be implemented with the help of FxPro Ltd, a private company based in Limassol who have supplied the municipality with two state-of-the-art street sweeping machines, at a cost of €100,000.
  

The machines are ecologically friendly and particularly fast, their manufacturers claim that working together they can clean up an area similar in size to two football fields in one hour – a task that would normally take two weeks.
 

“This is the first campaign of its type in Cyprus, not just because of its varied action plan and commitment to improving public health, but also because of the use of these green machines in a Cypriot town,” said Christou.
