The Cyprus Forestry Department has revealed its promotion for camping holidays in Cyprus as the best option for domestic tourism this holiday season.
There are five campsites throughout Cyprus, four located in the Troodos mountain region and one on the shore at Polis.
If it is fresh air and back to nature you are looking for a place to sleep in the high season will cost you as little as €1 a night.
It is all back to basics though with the areas providing electricity, running water, several bathrooms with showers and toilets, BBQ and dining areas and some have a kiosk or cafe facilities.
Troodos campsite is situated right near the village square and has approximately 250 camping spots and 120 caravan spots with access to electricity. The site is open from June until Sepember.
Platania campsite is located next to the villages Troodos district forestry office, a small site providing 35 camping spots and 17 caravan spaces. Open year round for caravans and June until September for camping.
Kambi tou Kalagirou is located on the main Trooditissa-Prodromos road, a basic site providing spots for up to 60 tents or caravans.
The Stavros tis Psokas site is on the west side of the Troodos range and located near the forest ranger’s station, it has spots for approximately 100 campers, with a small guesthouse and a restaurant nearby.
