Electricity prices are once again on the rise in Cyprus in order to fund Renewable Energy Sources (RES). The price rise to support RES is part of the government‘s commitment to the EU to reduce carbon emissions in Cyprus.
 

Anna Vissi will be returning to her homeland of Cyprus to perform in Paphos on Saturday evening. The Larnaca born singer has not performed in Paphos for a number of years. The concert will take place at Pafiakos stadium in Paphos at 9pm.

 
The proposed increase in corporate tax and immovable property tax has been rejected by the House. Cyprus at the moment attracts many foreign investors because of its low corporate tax rate.

 
In tennis, Cyprus faces Portugal this weekend but they will be without Marcos Baghdatis, who is resting before the US Open, and Photos Kallias who is recovering from a knee injury.

 
Biometric passports will be introduced in Cyprus in October to comply with EU regulations and under the new scheme, nobody will be entitled to free passports. Public servants have been issued with free passports in the past but this will be stopped. The cost will be €90 compared to the current €42.72.
