UK Style Speed Cameras for Cyprus

16 August 2010

Description:

The Cyprus Government are planning to install UK style speed cameras across Cyprus, however the project has yet to be approved by the Finance Ministry and Council of Ministers.

If the project is approved it will take about 5 years to complete, with each camera costing around €65,000.

The project will cost an estimated €20 million and will involve installing 304 cameras of which 277 will be fixed at traffic lights and on highways, with 27 mobile units.

The cameras will be able to identify drivers who are on their phones, not wearing seatbelts, jumping red lights and speeding.
