Ryanair Route Confirmed to Larnaca

20 August 2010

Description:

The low cost budget airline Ryanair has announced its first route into Larnaca International Airport will be from Brussels Charleroi Airport starting 3rd November 2010. A further route is to be confirmed soon.

Ryanair marketing executive Laura McCormack said both routes should be operating from this winter.

The two routes are scheduled to deliver over 60,000 passengers a year to Larnaca, creating up to 60 new jobs as part of an agreement that will increase passenger numbers by 500,000 over the next five years.

Regarding fares she said that the ticket from Larnaca to Brussels will cost €34.99, including taxes. Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

CTO Acting Director General Lefkos Phylactides said “we are cautiously optimistic. Ryanair’s decision to introduce new flights to Cyprus is indeed a milestone – I think it gives a vote of confidence to the aviation and tourism industries of Cyprus. I’m sure that over the next few years we will see an expansion of their operations here, and this will be a clear signal to other airlines to consider Cyprus.”
