BFBS Radio 2 In Cyprus May Be Shut Down

BFBS radio stations currently employs over 160 people worldwide, but rumour has it that up to 30 broadcasting staff may be made redundant if BFBS Radio 2 was to be shut down.
 

BFBS Radio 2  in Cyprus is very popular as many of the programmes are sourced from BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Five Live including sports coverage, 'The Today' programme and 'The Archers'.
 

With the impact of satellite and internet to most British forces troops during the last decade, the relevance of BFBS Radio has diminished.
  

The British Forces Broadcasting Service started in 1943 and came to Cyprus in the early 1950s. Today they broadcast from studios in Akrotiri and Dhekelia here in Cyprus.
