On Tuesday a team of experts met in Nicosia to discuss the future of tourism in Cyprus. With the global economic crisis, tourism on the Island faces a difficult year in 2009.
Minister of Tourism Antonis Paschalides said the Government of Cyprus are seeking to find the best and most efficient economic ways to help improve the situation.
On top of existing funds allocated to the CTO and the tourist industry, an extra 12 Million Euros have been earmarked.
The issuing of visas to persons from non member states is to be simplified and a number of offices will be opened in various countries to encourage tourism to Cyprus.
