Description:
At midnight last Monday the first fixed gas price set by the Cyprus Government expired. The Government have now set a further price cap of €7.90 for at 10 kilo cylinder and €790 per metric ton, following complaints about profiteering.
Antonis Paschalides , the Commerce and Industry Minister said prices of fuel and liquid oil will be carefully monitored and if import prices justify, a price ceiling will be imposed.
He also added that the price of milk in Cyprus is the highest in Europe.
Whilst gas cylinder distributors claim it is the oil companies that control prices, the Minister counted that the fixed prices include a reasonable profit for all involved.
