Cyprus President Wishes for 2009

Cyprus President Demetris Christofias wishes for 2009.
 

During celebrations at the presidential Palace the Cyprus President Demetris Christofias said  "I wish you all good health, I wish that we have lots of rain and above all I want to see Cyprus free of Turkish troops."
 

The president has recently concluded four months of talks with the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mehmet Ali Talat, in which the President has tried to negotiate a settlement that will reunite Cyprus, which has been divided since 1974 when the Turkish invasion took place.
 

Further talks are due to take place from 5^th January 2009, in order to find a mutually agreed solution.
 

With Cyprus facing the most serious water shortages the country has ever seen President Christofias also wished for rain.
