Speed Up Plan For Cyprus Golf Course Construction

Licenses for the proposed 14 golf courses and housing projects on the complexes across Cyprus may be issued soon in a government plan to boost the Cyprus economy.

 
The 14 golf courses consist of four courses in Limassol at Ayios Ambrosios, Fassouri and Paramali, two at Polis Chrysochous, two in Paphos, three in the Famagusta and Larnaca districts and three already in existence.

 
The proposed golf courses are to be built by 2010.
 

Conservationists will be angered by any decision to go ahead on building the courses as it would mean using lots of water which is already in short supply. There would also be the fear of construction of residential properties which may be put on hold in part built stages until the property market picks up again.
