British Jet Crashes in Cyprus

Description:

Two British RAF pilots were forced to eject from a Harrier Jump Jet that crashed at the RAF base near Akrotiri village in Cyprus.
 

An SBA spokesman said that the pilot and co-pilot were being treated at the military hospital on the base for non-life threatening injuries. The jet was on a training exercise in the west of Cyprus.
  

The RAF fly exercise flights over the skies in Cyprus and the Mediterranean area on a regular basis.
  

RAF Akrotiri has been operational since 1956 and is a permanent base for 84 Squadron which supports UN peacekeeping forces as well as performing search and rescue duties.
