Cyprus Bank Holiday Green Monday Celebrations

15 February 2010

Description:

As Cyprus prepares for the Orthodox Easter, today marks Green Monday, a bank holiday in Cyprus, which is the first day of the Greek Orthodox Lent.

Special church services were held throughout Cyprus last night and many churchgoers attended these services, in the hope that they leave with a clear conscience, forgiveness and a renewed Christian love.

This bank holiday in Cyprus will see families out and about today having picnics containing shellfish and other fasting foods and it is traditional to fly kites.

Hopefully the weather will hold out, it is expected to be generally fine.
