Description:
Fuel prices at the pump are expected to go down this week according to the Cyprus Commerce Minister, Antonis Paschalides.
Politicians have been putting the pressure on Paschalides to cap fuel prices to stop price fixing and profiteering by oil companies.
At present, the Cyprus Commerce Ministry can order price caps on heating gas and fuel but would like to extend price caps to include bread, milk and other essential goods.
An amendment to the draft would have to be put to the Cyprus Attorney-General for approval before this could be achieved.
