Cypriots and expats alike will join in the celebrations for Green Monday, the first day of the Greek Orthodox Lent across the whole of Cyprus.
 

Thousands of people will take to the outdoors on Monday for picnic lunches which consisted mainly of potatoes, olives, greens and seafood.

At Cape Greco near Ayia Napa the roads will be lined with families and friends gathering around tables packed with food.
 
It is traditional to fly Kites and with temperatures looking good for the weekend it should be a great day out.
 
Green Monday events will take place throughout the island.
