Description:
Cyprus Communication Minister, Nicos Nicolaides, announced that over 6000 children's car safety seats will be allocated to children in pre-primary school in an effort to improve road safety.
The Cyprus Ministry has agreed to purchase the car seats in coordination with the European Road Safety Charter which was launched by the European Commission four years ago.
The aim of the European Road Safety Charter is to half the number of deaths on Europe's roads by 2010.
Child safety seats have been part of everyday life for some time in the UK. Since 2006 all children under the age of 12 who are less than 135cm tall have to use a booster seat appropriate to their weight.
