In a joint news conference, Cyprus Commerce Minister Antonis Paschalides and Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (keve) Chairman Manthos Mavrommatis said that Cyprus will be promoted as a Financial and Services Centre in 18 countries this year.
Cyprus will also take part in specialised international exhibitions abroad such as 'Medic Expo 2009' in Athens, International Gateway in New York, ITM exhibition in Russia and Academia Egypt in Cairo.
Paschalides stressed the need to press on with seminars abroad in order to promote the Island as a business centre and its advantages, like geographical position, stable banking system and financial expertise.
He also spoke of plans to upgrade the ministry's commercial centres abroad and a proposal to open commercial centres in more countries.
He also said that the Russian market remains a top priority for Cyprus tourism, despite the world economic crisis.
Whilst realising the difficulties circumstances we are facing Paschalides said we are taking dynamic and targeted measures to promote our products, services and tourism.
