Clocks go forward in Cyprus

Description:

As from 3 am today, clocks go forward one hour to move to daylight saving time across Europe.
 
The convention of advancing clocks is so that the afternoons have more daylight hours and the mornings have less.
 
In recent times, there has been debate that whilst the lighter afternoons benefit sports, retailing and other activities, it causes issues for other occupations that are tied by the sunlight, farming being one such example.
 
The measure will be in place until the last Sunday in October which is the 25th October 2009.
