Description:
There has still been no positive result by the Cyprus Government regarding the issuing of title deeds for existing property buyers.
A seminar held in Paphos yesterday by the Cyprus Property Action Group (CPAG) confirmed that the Cyprus Government were trying to push through legislation for new property buyers in Cyprus.
However, it appeared that no action has yet been taken to resolve the backlog of pending title deeds for existing property holders in Cyprus.
The seminar had a presentation from Tasos Coucounis of Law firm Andreas Coucounis & Co, who outlined the current situation and explained the procedure available in order to take court action. A representative from the Cyprus District Land Registry was also present.
There are approximately over 100,000 property buyers in Cyprus who are unable to get their title deeds mainly as a result of outstanding mortgages that the property developers have on the land the properties are built on.
It seems that the only way forward is to continue to lobby British MP and the EU MEP's in order to highlight the problem.
